Lilac Deppei

Poems (Day Five)

A rare warning for sensitive imagery and wording in the third poem, read at your own discretion

[Old School Baking]

My heart's written on a lock in a chain link fence
Where the bakery burnt down long ago
I still sit in the empty lot sometimes
To eat lunch in the snow

I'm warmed by the thoughts of brick and coal ovens
Melted butter, Fresh made sourdough
My heart's secured by a lock so when things get tense
I'll have your key to let things go

[Magnolia]

She used to work in the medical field
But now her field is lillies and roses
Chrysanthemums dotted throughout
Get well soon.

[Spectacle]

Everyone wants to touch the statue
The scratch and sniff on display
The picture perfect picasso
Seems like everyone will have their way

So faggy yet so feminine
An exhibit in faux pas
This display isn't interactable
But you can't put away the paws

Just ignore the plaques and the guards
They turn a blind eye to the wall
The rules and velvet ropes are just a suggestion
She's a spectacle, after all

[Performance]

Desperately trying to be
What I think she wants me to be
I'd rate my performance a nine
Though she'd probably give it a three

Though i'm beating my heart, I keep shaking my head
Because i'm dreaming so hard that I fall off the bed
Saving my fantasies for the flight, the focus for the flee
Because it stands to seem lucidity is just not cut out for me

[Closing Thoughts]

old photos you've looked through years ago
compounding thoughts
memories of memories
looking back on the times you looked back on the times
plexiglass lenses in rose tinted frames
smoked glass for the more icaric days
