Perfect Square
A proposition I marched into with one eye willingly closed
A simple night out and a day in wasn't all you had proposed
I could read between the lines; I wasn't that totally blind
But whilst looking over my shoulder, I missed the clues underneath my nose
When the dusk turned to night and the snacks had all been eaten
Gossip was over and I was left bitten, bruised, badly beaten
Polaroids shaken too fast and taken overexposed
Though they were deemed unsatisfactory, the proofs weren't properly disposed
Am I truly that washed up that you have to wring me out?
Am I just another drama piece for you to forget all about?
I'd gladly stay with you without all the damn deception
Hot Bath, Cold Shower and a Lukewarm Reception
Two hapless shadow puppets flailing
Drowning in the dark
Contorting themselves, artsy murmurs
Another aimless lark
I awoke amidst a daydream and fluttered restless, dreamy eyes
You awoke, took a quick smoke, and rushed to offer me goodbyes
