Lilac Deppei

February Poem 5/28

Namesake

Out there is a town that's got your name
Dedicated to you and all your fame
There's a discount buffet and a liquor store
How could you ask for more?

Your namesake is dead and so's the town
You're barely on the map
On my way out i'll burn the whole place down
And then i'll have your half

There's a skate park that's open in the spring
In the winter it's used as a dog fight ring
In the summer it's closed because it's too warm
And in the fall; you're born

You're dead to me but you still make the rounds
Like a revolver stuck to my head
It'd be a hollow gesture if it wasn't still sound
You gave me your jacket; twas lined with lead

I moved out of the town that has your name
Since I met her things haven't quite been the same
Maybe you can move in, my dear old friend
Or change your name again

Oblique Strategy of the day: Allow an easement (an easement is the abandonment of a stricture)
