Facsimile Smiles

Half truths paired with secrets that they already know
I'm the only one thinking they remain bottled up, untold
Like a lead balloon lodged in the pit of my throat
I'm choking, not flying, just dying to float

Familiar faces turn looking away
Warping into unrecognizable facsimile smiles
Just comforting lies on a plasticine tray
Doing wonders to charm and chase and beguile

The hunt is on, i play the fox, and the rabbit, and the rocks
Sticks and stones help me atone though every blow's another shock
I play the role of every actor though at the end of the day
I'm just another understudy in my panned one-man play

Willingly walking sideways into the funhouse knowing I may not ever be able to leave
Hoping that with enough warped mirrors smashed I may finally be granted reprieve
